The serigraph shows the angels hovering above the cave of the Nativity, along with the three wise men bearing gifts. This wonderful image features strong Byzantine elements, with the Virgin Mary depicted with the newborn Jesus. Joseph, along with the Virgin Mary, traveled to Bethlehem to register for the census. After a long and tiring journey, they reached their destination, but due to the large crowds, they were unable to find lodging, except for a humble cave. It was there that the Virgin Mary gave birth to the Lord Jesus Christ. The Feast of Christmas was first established on December 25, 397 AD, during the patriarchate of Saint John Chrysostom.   The icon is created on naturally aged wood from a renovated cell on Mount Athos. The monks collect the wood that is being replaced, and after it is preserved with special techniques, it is transformed into unique works of art by their skilled hands.   Since the icon is handmade and the wood processing is done by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood, but not in the depiction.
