Description Saint Sabbas the Sanctified – Handmade Icon – Mount Athos Iconography on natural wood, handcrafted by the monks of Mount Athos.Saint Sabbas was born in the village of Mutalaska in Cappadocia, the son of devout parents, John and Sophia. From a very young age, he was drawn to the divine will and chose to dedicate his life to monasticism. His faith was so profound that, once, he entered a fiery furnace and emerged unharmed by the grace of God. As he grew older, he continued to nourish his spirit, and for this, he was blessed with the gift of performing miracles. He used this gift to serve the poor and the sick, accomplishing great and meaningful deeds. Due to his holy life and growing reputation, he was twice sent as an envoy by the Patriarch of Jerusalem to Constantinople—first to Emperor Anastasius and later to Emperor Justinian.
