If you need short shoulder straps, choose petite straps (10€). Features of Wompat ILO baby carrier Wompat ILO baby carrier is perfect for newborn babies from the very first moments on. The width of the panel can be adjusted as small as 28 cm (11 inch). Also the height of the panel is easy to adjust right for the baby. The panel gives optimum support for baby's neck when the upper edge of panel reaches her earlobe. Wompat ILO carrier comes with a handy adjustable sleep hood which gives additional support for baby's neck and head if needed. As baby grows older the width and height of the panel are gradually adjusted larger. The adjustments are stepless and therefore you can alway shape the carrier just right for your baby. The recommended minimum weight is 3 kg (7 lbs) and the maximum weight is 15 kg (35 lbs). Depending on the individual growth rate of each baby Wompat ILO can be used until about 18 to 24 moths of age. Wompat is well suited for parents of different sizes and shapes. The shoulder straps of the standard size are good for most parents. Shoulder straps Soft high quality, allergy friendly padding is used inside the shoulder straps and waist belt. Shoulder straps fit snugly on the shoulders and spread the weight evenly. Shoulder straps can be adjusted shorter with the buckles located in the middle part of padding. With these buckles you can also guide the baby closer to your body if needed. Shoulder straps come with opening buckles and therefore you can also crisscross the straps on the back. Many parents find crossing the straps very comfortable and it's a good idea to try, if you have narrow shoulders or if the straps don't settle comfortably in the normal H-position. Instructions for crossing shoulder straps can be found HERE. Shoulder straps can be tightened in two directions: this way you can always make the final tightening by pulling the straps forwards. Waist belt Wompat ILO baby carrier has ergonomically shaped and softly padded waist belt that is much softer and more flexible than most other baby carriers. The waist belt feels comfortable on both the front and back carry. As the material is slightly flexible, the waist belt may bend a little bit under a larger child, which is normal. Carry a small baby high against your chest. Wear the waist belt approximately at your navel region or around the narrowest part of your waist. You should be able to kiss baby's head. As baby grows you can lower the waist belt. With the back carry it's also good practice to wear the waist belt high - the buckle can be placed right under the breasts. The higher you carry the child the lighter it feels to carry her. Waist belt can be adjusted between 65 cm and 150 cm (25,5 - 59 inch). Sleep hood Wompat ILO baby carrier comes with a fixed sleep hood. The size of the hood can be adjusted with long reach straps and the hood can be attached to shoulder straps. You can also roll up the sleep hood and fix it with small rubber bands behind baby's neck. With a small baby the rolled hood usually offers enough support for the neck and head. High quality materials We use only the best materials for our carriers and most of them are purchased from local businesses. Our aim is to make Wompat as strong and long lasting as possible. We want to choose pure and safe materials - all our fabrics comply with the oeko-tex100 standard as well as the yarns used on Vanamo woven wrap. Oeko-tex100 standard ensures that the fabrics do not contain any harmful chemicals. The basic structure of the panel is from good quality airy cotton. A decorative woven wrap layer is added on the front side of the panel and sleep hood. The decorative layer is placed only on the top part of the panel - this ensures that the lower part of panel will fold nicely even with the narrowest setting & with a small baby. On shoulder straps and waist belt you can choose either smooth cotton fabric or soft corduroy. Both options are equally comfortable and strong. It is merely a matter of taste which material you like better. Corduroy is soft and the straps will stay on the shoulders without slipping. Cotton is a good option for those who don't like corduroy. The black webbing comes from a Finnish manufacturer and the buckles are made in Italy. Wash the whole carrier only when needed. You can wash the Wompat in a machine, use a program for delicates & cool water (30 Celsius). Use only a small amount of liquid washing detergent. No fabric softeners. Hang dry. Shape the carrier while still moist. The panel and the hood can be ironed: cotton / linen with medium heat and wool / silk with low heat.
